The Synthesis Center Counseling Service is a group practice offering holistic psychotherapy. The Counseling Services group share the psychosynthesis framework, and are comprised of multi-dimensionally trained therapists who combine mental, emotional, physical and spiritual aspects of the human experience to provide a holistic approach to living. With 20 years of experience practicing in the Amherst area, they provide inspirational psychotherapy for those seeking to balance the rigors of career, family and personal needs.
Psychosynthesis counseling focuses on affirming the uniqueness of each individual and explores the remarkable journey of personal healing. The Centers counselors maintain that spiritual and psychological well-being are essential for joyful and fulfilling lives. They stress that each persons inherent positive qualities, like determination, compassion and humor, can be strengthened and used to help cope with fear, loss, depression, anxiety, anger, and overwhelm. The psychosynthesis counseling process offers people the opportunity to connect with their essential positive qualities, and have an internal experience of Self and choice in their lives, freeing them from the limits of the past and the dictates of external sources.
The Synthesis Centers goal is to assist its clients in living the life they want. In addition to individual, couples and family therapy, support and psychoeducational groups are periodically available for a variety of issues. The Synthesis Center Counseling Services welcomes your questions and offers a free initial consultation. Sliding scale fees available and some insurance accepted.
Choosing a Therapist
Finding the right therapist can be expensive, confusing and time-consuming. At the Synthesis Center, you can either choose a therapist from our Affiliated Staff, call the SC, or e-mail counseling@synthesisthesiscenter.org and our intake staff will match you with the most suitable counselor. You may have a free brief interview with as many staff or associate members as you need to choose a therapist. These are mutual interviews in which you determine whether the therapist is suited to you as s/he explores your needs and goals for counseling. Usually the first interview will be set within a week of your call so that the counseling process can begin promptly. The therapist you choose will work with you in a format designed to meet your needs. Your work at the center may involve short or long term therapy. The process may take the form of individual, couples, family, children's therapy or some combination. At times, a variety of groups and workshops are offered to support people's growth or unfolding around specific issues. If travel to Amherst or to our adjunct offices is not convenient for you, we will be happy to refer you to a therapist in your area.
